Battle of the Books
The 20th annual Battle of the Books competition was held in January.  Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading competition for elementary school students. Each team has 64 books to read. Teams have to answer questions about the events, characters, and the authors of the books. Hyde had 18 teams competing to see who would represent Hyde at the district level. The Shooting Star went on to compete in the televised portion of the competition. 34 schools from across Wichita competed in the televised portion.

Congratulations to the Shooting Stars who won all of their rounds!

Winter is Here

As you all know, the weather in Kansas keeps us on our toes! We will be going outside for lunch recess unless it is too cold or rainy. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather and has warm gloves and/or mittens, hats, and anything else that keeps them warm when the weather is cool! We also encourage students to bring a sweater to wear in class when they get cold!
