Hyde Magnet School Parent Bulletin May 9, 2008

From the Principal

I haven’t written this little paragraph for awhile, but I figured it was time to pull that tie graphic out one more time!  Most of you are probably aware that I will not be returning to Hyde next fall as I begin a new adventure in central administration for USD 259.  It is an exciting time, but it has also caused me to experience a lot of “lasts” over the past few days and those that remain this month.  After twenty years in school administration, I have had my last staff meeting, attended my last music program, gone to my last “Beagle Bash,” and I am now writing my last school newsletter.  Wow!  It is really kind of strange, kind of sad, and kind of exciting all at the same time!!! 

I want to thank each and every one of you for welcoming me into the Hyde community four years ago.  It truly has been my pleasure to be here and to work with your kids.  They are awesome, and I will truly miss them.  Blessings to all of you in the days to come!

Thinking About Enrollment?

Most of you are probably just trying to get through the last two weeks of school and dreaming about those summer vacation plans, but we thought you might want to get this on your calendar.  Hyde enrollment for the 2008-09 school year will be held the week of July 28 at the following times:  July 28, 30, and August 1 – 9:00-3:00; July 29 and 31 – 1:00-7:00.  Packets will be mailed out this summer to returning families so that you can fill out as much paperwork as possible prior to enrollment. 

Bang-up Box-Tops!

Thanks for your great commitment to collecting Box-Tops for Education this year.  Your taking the time to snip those labels and send them to school resulted in $351.90 for Hyde School!

Yearbooks for Sale

The first batch of yearbooks were sold last week at Beagle Bash, but we still have plenty to sell.  You can pick one up in the school office for $5.00.  We will have a yearbook signing party on May 21^st, so you still have time to get one before the big event.

Final Meetings Next Week

Our PTO and Site Council will both meet together next Tuesday evening at 6:00 for the final meeting of the year.  We are so thankful for the support that these two groups provide the students and staff of Hyde School, and anticipate lots of great things to come next year.  We especially want to thank Cyndra Whiddon for chairing Site Council this year and Lori Guthridge for chairing the PTO.  It takes a lot of extra time and effort to lead these organizations, and we appreciate the leadership that Lori and Cyndra have provided.  Thanks, ladies!!!

• Tuesday, May 27 – Summer Latchkey Begins
