Hyde United Nations The Hyde United Nations is our schools student council. It is made up of thirty-five Ambassadors elected from Grades 2-5. The U. N. meets once a month and is affiliated with the American Red Cross. The U. N. works on projects to benefit our school, our community, and our world. Projects include United Way, Operation Holiday, UNICEF, Lincoln East Nursing Home, and the Humane Society. Hyde United Nations Projects 2007-2008 The Hyde United Nations Student Council is dedicated to completing ten projects during the school year. Here’s what we have completed this year:
1. The Hyde U.N. Ambassadors received a Red Cross orientation. 2. In October, we had a pumpkin decorating contest. Each class decorated a pumpkin and students brought money to vote on their favorites. We raised $900.00! 3. In November, we collected food for Operation Holiday. We collected 791 items of food. 4. In December, we collected 2 boxes full of winter clothing items (hats, gloves, scarves, etc.) for the Salvation Army. 5. In February, we raised money for UNICEF by selling Valentines. 6. In February, we collected new and used coats for students in Wichita. 7. 8. 9. 10.
